Arteta is a young mastermind who began his career as an EPL manager in 2019, taking over the reins at Arsenal. He finished his playing career as captain of the Gunners, and soon after retiring from the game, he joined Pep Guardiola's coaching staff at Manchester City. In 2018, Arteta took over as City's head coach, and it was his first managerial job at a big club.
Despite some frustrations in his first season, Arsenal trusted Arteta's processes and plans, and that trust began to manifest itself in the abilities he learned under Guardiola over time. The Gunners began to rebound under Arteta, especially in the 2021-2022 season, and last season, instead of just qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, they became league title contenders with Man City.
Despite Arteta finishing the season without a trophy for the second consecutive season, the Gunners have been consistently pleased with the results on the pitch, and with just over a year left on his contract, Arteta is now poised to sign a long-term extension at one of the highest salaries of any EPL manager.
